چکیده

Background Changes in myocardial strain parameters is of interest in patients with heart failure as an objective measure of disease severity. Speckle-tracking echocardiography (STecho) is the accepted standard of reference for myocardial strain analysis given superior temporal resolution; however, difficult acoustic windows and limited contrast to noise resolution can limit strain analysis. Preliminary work using deformation field analysis at steady state free precession (SSFP) cine MR imaging has shown that strain analysis at CMR is similar between conventional and highly accelerated GRAPPA cine acquisitions. The purpose of this study is to compare the strain values in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF, left ventricular ejection fraction >50%) at SSFP cine MRI with ST-echo.

Comparisons of myocardial strain and strain rate in patients with heart failure with preserved and reduced ejection fraction using Feature Tracking of cine MR images

Methods All participants were prospectively recruited and underwent CMR in a 1.5 T scanner. LVEF < 45% and ≥45% were used to define HFrEF and HFpEF, respectively. Dilated cardiomyopathy was the primary cause for HFrEF. HF status was confirmed with B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) > 400 pg/ml. Patients with myocardial infarction were excluded. Myocardial circumferential strain (CST) and strain r...

Evaluation of strain and strain rate parameters using two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography in patients with coronary artery disease (Research Article)

The study aimed was to measure left ventricular (LV) strain using speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) for assessment of LV function. Eighty-two subjects (mean age 57±9 years) with suspected chest pain underwent two-dimensional (2D)-echocardiography before coronary angiography. Conventional echocardiographic parameters were used for the assessment of LV function. Longitudinal strain and its ...

Speckle tracking echocardiography-determined measures of global and regional left ventricular function correlate with functional capacity in patients with and without preserved ejection fraction

BACKGROUND Standard measures of left ventricular systolic and diastolic function often fail to identify left ventricular dysfunction in patients with heart failure and do not correlate with measures of functional capacity. AIM To determine if speckle tracking echocardiography (STE)-determined measures of global and regional myocardial contractility have a linear association with functional ca...

Functional left atrial CMR parameters are early predictors of left atrial alterations in hypertension and strongly associated with lv remodeling

Background Left atrial (LA) structural and functional changes are determinant steps on the pathway toward heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in hypertensive (HT) patients. Most LA studies are based on LA volumes evaluation in CMR and echocardiography or on echocardiographic speckle tracking estimation. Since LA functional evaluation by CMR is now emerging we aimed at 1) evaluating L...

Left Ventricular Myocardial Function in Hemodialysis and Nondialysis Uremia Patients: A Three-Dimensional Speckle-Tracking Echocardiography Study

BACKGROUND Several studies have demonstrated that uremic patients who have preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) could still have the potential for systolic dysfunction. The aim of this study was to assess the differences between the left ventricular (LV) myocardial function in hemodialysis and nondialysis uremic patients based on three-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiograph...
